We investigated the procedures employed by a soccer coach to teach set attacking piece plays in corners kicks and the results obtained with such plays in training, friendly matches and competitive games. Participated a coach and 71 professional soccer players. The set attacking piece plays in corners kicks were categorized as A, B, C, D or improvised depending on the position of the players in the field according to the model provided by the coach. Coaches´ verbalizations during trainings were recorded. It was verified that corner kicks were practiced in situation of collective games and that the closer to the competitive period, the greater the percentage of training sessions with corner kicks practice. The use of partial technical instructions was predominant to teach the set attacking piece plays in corners kicks. There was an increase in the number of improvised plays with the proximity of the competition and indications of the maintenance of the set attacking piece plays in corners kicks in training, friendly matches and competitive games. For the first and second teams, the improvised play and the play A showed better scores on finishing on goal and goals, respectively. The results were discussed by pointing out parameters to guide possible interventions used by coaches to teach set attacking piece plays in corners kicks. |
