Popis: Sedimentary process modeling is used to test the depositional hypothesis of the Peregrino reservoir. The Peregrino field is located 86 km offshore Brazil. The reservoir sands have been interpreted as deposited from submarine gravity flows. The first phase of this study comprised model parameter tuning, comparing simulation output with available observations in wells and seismic. A second phase comprised forward modeling of a series of events used to study how this tool would distribute the sediments. The deterministic process software MassFLOW-3D™ has been used to simulate low density turbidity currents, linked to RMS™2013 for 3D modeling of the net deposits. With MassFLOW-3D™, all hydraulic properties of the flow and it’s responses to topography can be monitored in 3D over the whole duration of the turbidity current. In general the study has resulted in an improved conceptual understanding and reduced conceptual uncertainty regarding the sedimentological model. The learning from the simulations may potentially influence future well-location selections. A training model for other facies modeling techniques is constructed. It is believed that such process simulated models may have the power of creating realistic 3D distributions of sands on a scale where model parameters not are easily available by other means.
