Popis: | Heavy-atom (sulfur) isotope effects accompanying the thermal sulfoxyallylic rearrangement (1,3 migration of a phenylfulfinyl group across an allylic framework) support a dissociative transition state. This thiaallylic migration mechanism was verified by previously reported secondary deuterium isotope effect studies. The implication of these results for the automerization of the sulfoxide of perfluorotetramethyl (Dewar thiophene) is briefly considered. (JSR) |
