Popis: Symmetric lipomatosis of the tongue is a rare condition that affects especially Asian population and could be associated with symmetric benign lipomatosis and alcoholism. An 84-year-old Brazilian black male presented with bilateral painless yellowish tongue swelling lasting 20 years. Patient reported excessive alcohol consumption. He also presented with an asymptomatic ill-defined soft tissue mass on the right forearm, compatible with lipoma. Surgical removal of the tongue lesions was performed under local anesthesia and histologic analysis showed the presence of mature adipocytes, confirming the diagnosis of symmetric lipomatosis of the tongue. Patient has been followed up for 7 months with no symptoms and signs of recurrences.
