The pressure dependence of the rapid sedimentation of polymer solutions

Popis: The ultracentrifugation results of poly-4,4-diphenylphthalein terephthalamide fractions in DMF and of two samples of PAN in DMF-THF and DMF-methanol have been processed according to the Fujita and Dishon et al. theories which are based on the analysis of the boundary location. The Fujita equation is shown to be inapplicable and that by Dishon and co-workers is restricted (absence of diffusion, narrow boundary) by the determination of the pressure parameter μ; an analysis of the areas enclosed by the sedimentation curves is essential to a correct μ determination.
