Development of WiFi-Based Convenience Outlet with Graphical User Interface for Monitoring Power Consumption of RFID-Based Appliances

Popis: The research is about a system that can monitor the energy consumption among boarders relative to their actual usage. This prototype uses microcontroller, power analyzer, radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, Wi-Fi server and relays. It calculates energy consumption of each boarder for efficient electric bill distribution. Using RFID technology to determine who uses the socket and logs the energy consumption to the Graphical User Interface (GUI). The GUI of the system provide a real time monitoring of the energy consumption of each appliance as well as the projected cost of the bill of each tenant. The results of the research based on the user’s usage shows no significant difference in values of current using t-test. The results show that the system and the GUI created by the researchers can be used for reliable monitoring of electricity usage of tenants.
