| Popis: | The difficulties encountered in the direct evaluation of the groundwater potential of the various aquiferous units in Sao Paulo State were overcome by using surface water data. The methodology introduced here, which can be applied under similar conditions elsewhere, is based on the separation of the surface and groundwater components of river discharges. The separation techniques were applied to the major aquiferous units (the ‘medium’), and the average groundwater recharge for each unit was estimated. |
