Popis: | When yield-contributing characters appear in a known sequence, their direct effects on yield as evaluated in conventional path analysis could be a little artificial because of collinearity between the causal characters. A more appropriate method might be a technique called sequential yield component analysis, SYCA. Here a modification of this method (the modified SYCA), applicable to any reasonable sequential yield-contributing characters, is discussed. The objective of the paper was to provide the statistical background of the modified SYCA and discuss its appropriateness to study relative influence of sequential yield-contributing characters on overall yield. To demonstrate the new procedure, an experimental example for blackcurrant (Ribes nigrum L.) is used. Field data were obtained on 25 offspring (F1 single-cross hybrids) that resulted from a five-parent full-diallel cross (Griffing's method 1). F1 plants were tested in a randomized complete-block design with four replicates (plots of 15 pla... |
