Popis: This paper focuses on integration of solar energy in an efficient way to power the transportation system such as metro train in UAE. The aim is to reduce the power load on the power grid and employ solar energy which is a clean, pollution free and an abundant source of energy. Urban rail system operation requires enormous amount of power and this can be reduced by using solar energy. This paper focuses on the design of the solar powered network for DC electrified 750 V third rail systems for metro trains. Solar powered metro train will use a smart combination of energy generated by solar panels and power grid. The proposed system can be integrated into the existing third rail 750 V technology in an efficient way.
