| Popis: | The distribution of the cricetid rodent genus Scotinomys is briefly reviewed, and its distribution as a Middle American endemic is shown to coincide with the distribution of cloud forest, or upper humid montane forest. A new subspecies of S. teguina is described from north-central Nicaragua, and the significance of the Nicaraguan gap in the distribution of this mid-montane species is defined. |
