Popis: The solar pond is composed of three different zones with different salinities. It is a simultaneously a collector and a solar energy storage device, unlike other sys tems that capture but do not store. The purpose of this work is to study the influence of the nature of the salt us ed on the vertical temperature profile. Three ident ical barrels were used under the same conditions; each contains a different salt solution, namely NaCl, Na 2CO 3 and CaCl 2. A simulation based on the numerical resolution of t he heat diffusion equation with time varying bounda ry condition was performed and validated by experimental study. The radiation was assessed statistically over a period of 28 days according to weather station data provided by "Les Salines", the meteorological stat ion of Annaba. The simulation results agree well with the observed temperature measurements .
