Popis: | a 52-year-old man underwent aortic valve replacement (avr) for symptomatic aortic stenosis. he presented 2 months later with fevers and was found to have a pericardial effusion that grew staphylococcus aureus. a transesophageal echocardiogram suggested that a saccular pseudoaneurysm had formed within the ascending aorta (Panel a; arrow) just distal to the prosthetic aortic valve (Pav).
