Popis: The visual systems in a variety of experimental animals undergo one or more critical periods during their development. Likewise, the developing human visual system is subject to periods of enhanced vulnerability during at least the first year or two of life. In this article Terry L. Hickey suggests that the normal structural development of the visual system can provide clues as to when the critical-period of visual system development begins and ends in humans.
