Surface and diffuse-layer charge at the TiO2—electrolyte interface

Popis: We determine quantitatively the charge density in different parts of the double layer (Stem model) at the TiO2—electrolyte interface using three complementary techniques (potentiometry, electrophoresis, radiotracer technique). The experimental determination of the adsorption of Na+ and Cl− ions is shown to satisfy the Stern—Grahame isotherm, assuming that the double layer to represented by a series of capacitors where the outer one has a constant capacitance of about 22.8 μF cm−2.
