Synthesis and characterization of [.mu.-bis(diphenylphosphino)methane]bis[.eta.1-bis(diphenylphosphino)methane]-.mu.-sulfidodiplatinum and its use in formation of tetranuclear platinum complexes with .mu.4-S ligands

Popis:	The reaction of [Pt 2 (μ-dppm) 3 ] with COS gave a new diplatinum (I) complex [Pt 2 (μ-S)(μ-dppm)(η 1 -dppm) 2 ] (1), where dppm=Ph 2 PCH 2 PPh 2 . Complex 1 was also prepared by reaction of [Pt 2 Cl 2 (μ-dppm) 2 ] with dppm and sodium sulfide or by reaction of [Pt 2 (μ-dppm) 3 ] with sulfur, but lower yields were obtained by these methods. Complex 1 reacted slowly with air, by oxidation of the free phosphorus atoms, to give [Pt 2 (μ-S)(μ-dppm)(Ph 2 PCH 2 P(O)Ph 2 ) 2 ] and with [Pt 2 Me 4 (μ-SMe 2 ) 2 ] or [PtPh 2 (SMe 2 ) 2 ] to give [Pt 4 (μ 4 -S)R 4 (μ-dppm) 3 ], where R=Me or Ph, respectively
