Popis: | The present study compared the responses of a random sample of award-winning university faculty and a matched sample of non-award winning faculty on five dimensions of teaching: teacher's role, teaching behaviors, teachers' perceptions of the variables explaining students' high ratings of effectiveness, students' work load, and use of teaching aides. The faculty samples were matched on teaching field and academic rank. Discriminant analysis was used to identify differences in award-winning and non-award winning teachers' perceptions of the five dimensions of teaching. The two faculty samples could not be differentiated on their perceptions of the five teaching dimensions sampled. However, the faculty samples could be distinguished on teaching preference. Award-winning faculty preferred instructing graduate students. |
