Popis: The author, who now works at the Building Research Station, the Technion, Israel, draws largely upon his previous experience in the USSR to describe the in situ treatment of ancient loess clay structures with the use of gas‐fired infra‐red radiant panels. This, he maintains, is the most feasible method of preserving crumbling monuments and archaeological remains, by giving the original raw material the properties of burnt clay. Control of temperature rise is crucial.
