Disorders of the male genitourinary system are commonly encountered and affect men of all ages. The interventional radiologist’s role in the management of these disorders is expanding, particularly given the recent enthusiasm for prostatic artery embolization for the treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) related to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). This chapter describes a selection of male genitourinary interventions, including varicocele embolization, prostate artery embolization for the treatment of BPH, and arterial embolization for high-flow priapism. There is a brief discussion on interventions for vasculogenic erectile dysfunction (ED). Clinical considerations for these disease processes are reviewed as well, with a focus on the pertinent information necessary for patient selection and treatment. In addition, procedural techniques are reviewed, followed by a discussion regarding potential complications as well as patient follow up and outcomes. |
