The Brazilian electrical system is a large hydro-thermo-eolic system, with an unequal regional distribution of its generation potential and consumers location, requiring a large transmission system. The grid interconnection of the Brazilian electrical subsystems provides energy transfer between different areas, optimizing the use of the hydrological diversity of the territory. However, energy management problems arise with a system of this size. One of them being the contingencies, usually related to maintenance or more serious events, such as loss of transmission lines or generation shortages. Thus, a constant analysis of the system must be carried out in order to avoid failures in the protection action, which could lead to a chain reaction, resulting in the electric power system collapse. This paper presents the southern transmission subsystem contingency analysis, using real data obtained through the system operator, in order to locate fragile points and thus propose suggestions for increasing the robustness of this subsystem. |
