Popis: The loss of productive soil in the world was first brought to the attention of the international community at the Environment Conference in Stockholm, 1972. Subsequent discussions have led to the suggestion that the slow rate of transfer to the developing world of the technology for its control was perhaps due to social and economic rather than to technological constraints. The background to this hypothesis and the attempt that is being made to validate it, are here described.
