Popis: The frequency of serious fractures of the lower femur and the upper tibia continues to be considerably large and therefore challenges the fracture surgeon with complex injuries associated with high complication rates.1–5 As a result, a significant group of patients present with instabilities and deformities in the region of the knee joint that require thorough evaluation of their problems to plan and carry out optimum solutions. Execution of these corrective procedures demands knowledge of methods that may be employed to correct three-dimensional deformity. Internal fixation must be applied to the corrected extremity so that limb function and healing may occur simultaneously.
