Popis: | A high-resolution electron energy-loss spectroscopic (HREELS) study on coadsorption of oxygen with a submonolayer of Fe on a GaAs(100) surface has been presented in this paper. The oxidation passivation for the Fe overlayer and the oxidation promotion for the GaAs(100) substrate are re-examined. By comparison of the results with that on an oxidized GaAs(100) surface in the absence of a Fe overlayer, a specific oxidation feature induced by the Fe overlayer has been revealed and discussed. Analyses of the experimental results and a schematic description of the system lead to an extension of our understanding of the coadsorption as well as of the mechanism of the surface oxidation passivation and oxidation promotion. |
