Popis: In the present work, the pine needle reinforced epoxy composite was fabricated, and its physical and mechanical properties were investigated by adding the rice husk flour to the composite. In the fabricated composite, the percentage composition of the pine needle fiber was kept constant at 20% by weight, and the composition percentage of the rice husk flour was increased up to 15% by weight with a difference of 5% weight. The hand layup technique was adopted in the fabrication process of the composite. Further, the investigation was carried out on chemically treated fiber reinforced composite. The chemical, sodium carbonate (Na2CO3), with a weight percentage of 10% was used for the treatment purpose. The results were analyzed and compared to the composites having the same composition but reinforced with treated and untreated pine needle and rice husk fibers. The results revealed that the addition of rice husk flour had a significant increase in the water absorption capacity; however, a decreasing trend was observed in the tensile strength, flexural strength, and impact energy. Further, the composite with chemically treated fibers had shown a positive effect on the properties of the composite.
