In the history of Dutch insurance, there has always been structural reliance on networks for economic reasons. How this networked environment, with its associated IOS standards, helps Dutch insurance firms create global advantage is the topic of this paper.We discuss the evolution of Dutch insurance, with a focus on the role of technology in changing the organizational structure of this industry. We examine the impact of interorganizational systems (IOS) on the operating environment, from specific empirical research on both messaging standards and back office operations within the Dutch domestic insurance network. |
