Popis: | This paper is a discussion of surviving the experiences of Psychotic Major Depression (PMD) and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). It involves a discussion of Allison’s experiences of voice hearing and psychosis as well as therapy that was and was not useful for enduring and surviving her experiences. Allison explains how language became a feature of her condition, and she also details stigma that was associated with people’s misunderstanding of the nature of psychosis. The paper also examines entrenched and largely cultural ideas toward psychosis, ultimately concluding that these erroneous ideas creating stigma also arise from within the mental health system. |
