Popis: 1. A study was made of the preparation of titanium carbide hard alloys with a nickel binder. It is shown that satisfactory mechanical properties (bend strength 107–115 kg/mm2, hardness 90–90.5 HRA) are exhibited by 80% TiC-20% Ni alloys produced from fine-milled mixtures by sintering in a vacuum of 5·10−3 mm Hg at a temperature of 1300‡C and an isothermal holding time of 30 min. 2. In the machining of Type 50 steel at a speed of 120–180 m/min, the wear resistance of the experimental alloys is 1.6–1.8 times that of the standard T14K8 alloy; when used as a reinforcement of wire-drawing dies, these alloys are 1.5–2 times as wear-resistant as VK6 alloy.
