Relativistic effects in electron impact ionization from the p-orbital

Popis: The parameters of our recent modification of BELI formula (MBELL) [A.K.F. Haque, M.A. Uddin, A.K. Basak, K.R. Karim, B.C. Saha, Phys. Rev. A 73 (2006) 012708] are generalized in terms of the orbital quantum numbers nl to evaluate the electron impact ionization (EII) cross sections of a wide range of isoelectronic targets (H to Ne series) and incident energies. For both the open and closed p-shell targets, the present MBELL results with a single parameter set, agree nicely with the experimental cross sections. The relativistic effect of ionization in the 2p subshell of U 82+ for incident energies up to 250 MeV is well accounted for by the prescribed parameters of the model.
