Improving the accuracy of an inertial measurement unit of a spacecraft control system by computational algorithms

Popis: This paper studies an ability of algorithmic improvement of accuracy of an inertial measurement unit while measuring linear accelerations and angular rates nearby zero in conditions of asynchronous timing of sensors pools of the inertial measurement unit and a spacecraft control system. The proposed simple modifications of the base computation formulas for the projections of vectors of linear acceleration and angular rate onto the measurement axes of the accelerometers and angular rate sensors lead to considerable decrease of inaccuracies and quantization errors in computation of small quantities of the measured values based on the measuring information received from the sensors of the inertial measurement unit. The results of the comparative simulation of the basic and modified computational algorithms prove the advantages of computations by the modified formulas.
