Luminescence properties of borate phosphors in the UV/VUV region

Popis: Luminescence properties of YBO 3 –GdBO 3 solid solutions doped with Tb 3+ have been investigated in order to understand the energy transfer processes between Gd 3+ and Tb 3+ in these phosphors. The critical atomic fraction ( X c ) and the critical distance ( R c ) for efficient energy migration among Gd 3+ ions were derived. In YBO 3 –GdBO 3 : Tb solid solutions, (Gd 3+ –BO 3 3− ) absorbs excitation energy more efficiently than (Y 3+ –BO 3 3− ) in the VUV region.
