Store separation flight tests are considered as high-risk activity. These tests are performed to determine the position and attitude of the store after it is deliberately separated or ejected while it is still under the aircraft’s area of interference. A process that added value for experimental tests is the photogrammetry. This process extracts data from the cameras, using computational resources that analyze the frames of the videos. Few institutions in the world have an ability to perform this kind of activity. In Brazil, the Flight Tests and Research Institute (IPEV) is one of them. At IPEV, the determination of the store separation trajectory is performed after the flight using a commercial tool. In addition, the process is very inefficient and costly because the activity demands for many weeks of work to analyze the results. Thus, developing a solution to determine the store separation trajectory will increase the efficiency and safety of the flight test campaign. The benefits of such a solution include better use of resources, minimization of workload, and reduced costs and time. In this work, we demonstrate the steps for developing the application that uses a synthetic scenario. The use of a synthetic scenario allows the simulation of different separation scenarios and thus, the application becomes more robust. The experiments performed to validate the application are also demonstrated. |
