Popis: The thermophilic phototrophic prokaryote, Chloroflexus aurantiacus Ok-70-fl, grows only poorly in defined media tacking amino acids. The organism is unable to fix N2 (Heda and Madigan, 1986) but contains a Ni2+-stimulated membrane-bound hydrogenase of the uptake type (Drutschmann and Klemme, 1985). Of the main enzymes of ammonia assimilation (glutamate dehydrogenase, EC 1.41.2; alanine dehydrogenase, EC 1.41.1; glutamine synthetase, EC 6.3.1.2, and glutamate synthase, EC 1.41.13), only glutamine synthetase was detected in cell-free extracts of celts grown in complex or defined media.
