Popis: | An electronic transition of the BN molecule has been identified from an absorption spectrum obtained by the flash discharge technique in the region 1860-1950 AA. From the vibrational analysis of the spectrum five bands at 1868.38, 1871.26, 1902.83, 1940.92 and 1942.60 AA are classified as 1-0, 2-1, 0-0, 1-2 and 0-1, respectively. The rotational analysis of the 0-0 band is carried out from a high-resolution spectrum. The carrier of the spectrum is confirmed from an isotopic shift study of 10BN. The new transition is attributed to an absorption from the 13 Sigma - state, which is predicted to lie very close to the ground state of the molecule. Molecular constants obtained for the two states are given. |
