Popis: | Indications for prosthetic ligament reconstruction vary from long-standing chronic injury of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) to acute injuries consisting of anterior cruciate tears along with medial collateral ligament and meniscus injuries. Previous experience with anterior cruciate insufficiency and rotatory instability has demanded new concepts in applying biomechanical and kinematic research toward solving this difficult problem. A prosthetic ligament ideally would have mechanical properties very similar to the normal ligament it is meant to replace. In addition to this it must be biologically inert and provide some ability to withstand the hostile environment of the synovial cavity. |
