Popis: The paper presents ongoing work on making the Internet of Things (IoT) devices used for critical application more reliable. The goal is to make the devices more resilient and fault-tolerant in a way that, in case of failure in the primary communication technology, the standby technology can provide a backup path for the bare minimum functionality to work without interruption. This implementation may result in faster reaction time in fault recovery without complete loss of end-user connectivity. The objective here is to achieve a high level of performance reliability without affecting the battery life of the device significantly. The use of IoT devices for asset tracking is chosen to be the use case, considering the wide range of tracking application and their requirements. This paper focuses on providing improved resiliency on radio communication and location acquisition of an asset tracking IoT device.
