Popis: Design of a building with a low carbon footprint depends on efficient utilization of resources (energy, material and water). For appropriate design decisions in development of building, active involvement of stakeholders is necessary. A decision support tool for low carbon building design (CAMIBLD tool) is introduced in this paper. The CAMIBLD tool was meant to allow building consultants to quickly evaluate the environmental performance of design options of the building. Major potential areas for reduction of carbon emission were highlighted as energy, material, and water conservation. Usability of tools to support the decision making is presented in the context of a case study over composite climatic zone in India. Base case was generated on the basis of prevalent guidelines and standards. Best practice case was designed to involve consultant’s decision for alternative sustainable technologies. Summary of reduction in energy, emission and cost was generated as output.
