Flooding and flash-floods represent the most common urban environmental problem in Brazilian cities today. Their existence is the consequence not only of the occupation of the riverside areas, but the adoption of urban drainage projects which for decades merely prioritized the channeling of surface run-off to water bodies and courses. Techniques that favor the local solution with emphasis on infiltration could be an alternative to minimize existing problems and reduce the processes in the future. The present work proposes the use of digital cartography techniques on the environment with the support of geographical information systems for the implantation of infiltration trenches. The proposal was applied on the UFSCar campus with a view to the preliminary analysis of the potential areas for the implantation of infiltration trenches considering the attributes of steepness, soils and land use. The results showed good technical suitability to the desired purpose, indicating good potential for application in other areas with a higher number of attributes to be taken into consideration |
