Multiple Loads-Single Smart Meter for Measurement and Control of Smart Grid

Popis: In order to control a single/targeted load, an energy measurement and control infrastructure must be available for such load. Existing submetering technology is expensive, intended mostly for load measurement, proprietary, and not interoperable. An internet based multiple load-single smart meter and control (MLSSMC) infrastructure is proposed in this paper. As a single device, the MLSSMC can monitor and control multiple separate loads. It uses the internet as a universal communication platform to send data for display, automatic billing and data analysis. The MLSSMC can receive and implement a load control signal generated by the consumer or utility. The MLSSMC monitoring and control hardware and software infrastructure were developed. A 5 kVA power system with variable loads was used for experimental testing. As far as load measurements, the experimental results show that the accuracy of the proposed MLSSMC is comparable to that of typical existing single load high end smart meters.
