Popis: The rapid growth of China’s economy and the progress of industrialization have gradually led to serious resource depletion and environmental degradation. The Yangtze river economic belt (YREB) strategy is one of the most important strategies for the sustainable development of the “new normal” economy in China. Logistics industry, as a foundation that guarantees to implement the YREB strategy, plays a linking role in the resources exchange and trade flow in the YREB. Therefore, maximizing economic benefits while using the least amount of resources and the least damage to the environment is an urgent and critical issue for achieving sustainable development. This paper proposes to combine a super slack-based measure (super-SBM) data envelopment analysis (DEA) model and the global Malmquist index to evaluate the logistics ecological efficiency of 11 provinces/cities in the YREB from 2004 to 2016. Later, global and local Moran’s indexes are used to analyze the spatial autocorrelation of logistics ecological efficiency. Finally, a spatial econometric model is proposed to study how the influencing factors interference affect logistics ecological efficiency. The empirical results show that: (1) Compared to economically underdeveloped areas, the upstream areas of the YREB exhibit higher logistics ecological efficiency; (2) On the whole, the positive effects of technical changes are stronger, the growth of logistics ecological efficiency is driven mainly by technological progress; (3) Significant spatial correlation exist among the logistics ecological efficiency of the YREB, the upstream regions is more efficient and tend to have a positive spillover effect on neighboring provinces; (4) Foreign direct investment, government intervention, level of economic development and human capital have positive effects on the logistics ecological efficiency, whereas industrial structure, environmental regulation and logistics energy intensity have negative impacts.
