Bangladesh is located in the tropical area and it is blessed with enormous solar energy. The sun is up for most of the time of the year. Sunlight falls on solar photovoltaic modules and it is then converted into electricity. With the increase of photovoltaic grid-connected capacity, photovoltaic generation will bring many impacts on the distribution network. Besides, the rural area of Bangladesh is in great need of electricity. Most of the villages get less power than the demand thus resulting in blackout and continuous power cut. In this paper, first through a survey, the average demand of a village was estimated for summer and winter. Then how much power the area gets was measured and from the difference between supply and demand the energy required during grid failure was assessed. In this case, a grid connected photovoltaic system with a battery backup was proposed. Then a suitable system voltage and current were selected. The energy of the battery bank, capacity, and numbers were also determined. |
