Popis: Aldrin epoxidation, dihydroisodrin hydroxylation, and p -chloro- N -methylaniline demethylation were measured in cell-free tissue preparations of Saturnia pyri (Schiffenmuller) Hyalophora cecropia (L.), Telea Polyphemus Cramer, Philosamia cynthia (Drury), Callosamia promethea (Drury), and Antheraea pernyi (Guerin). Mid gut microsomal fractions had higher monooxygenase activities and cytochrome P-450 levels than other tissues. Activity was neither sex-linked nor affected by feeding larvae 4 different foodplants. Activity was highest in preparations from ultimate-stage larvae; after cessation of feeding, activity dropped sharply. These studies revealed a close association among the 3 monooxygenase systems.
