| Popis: | Although recent research has shown a clear link between alopecia areata (AA) and anxiety and depression, the association of AA with other psychiatric comorbidities has been poorly studied. In this National Institutes of Health database study, we show AA to be significantly associated with alcohol use disorder, attention–deficit hyperactivity disorder and insomnia. Dermatologists may be uniquely situated to screen for these previously under-recognized comorbidities and refer people to mental health services when appropriate. |
