This paper describes a student research project conducted in the scope of a master’s degree program. It tries to answer the question if a greenfield approach in an IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) project can lead to new results, which a routine-blinded expert might not achieve. Firstly, the design of the project is described, followed by methods applied to ensure it is a greenfield approach. The result of the project is a setup for a proof-of-concept. Therefore the building blocks of the setup are depicted, namely the requirements specified, the model of the setup, its components and use-cases, hardware and software used. Finally, the results are discussed to identify the benefits of the greenfield approach. |
