Tung Comments. In Taiwan, Cangshanaltica is a common genus, with at least two species well-delimited based on molecular analysis (Damaška et al. 2021). All examined species from Taiwan have spotted elytra and are generally similar to the Japanese C. ogatai Takemoto & Suenaga, 2021 in all external characters, except for the coloration: Taiwanese specimens have 4 elytral spots, C. ogatai has 6 elytral spots. The dorsal body coloration among different Taiwanese specimens is variable (for example, pronotum can be yellow or black, elytral suture yellow or black) and body size also varies greatly. However, the coloration variability does correspond to the molecular data provided by Damaška et al. (2021). We examined numerous specimens of Cangshanaltica from Taiwan, however, only a few provided molecular sequences, which made a broad molecular analysis impossible, similar to the case of C. castanea. The type series of C. ogatai also does not contain any DNA-grade specimens (H. Suenaga, pers. comm., 2021). An analysis containing both molecular and morphological characters would be, however, necessary to delimit the species. The fauna of the Iriomote island is very similar to Taiwan, both islands even share two species of the edaphic flea beetle genus Clavicornaltica (Suenaga & Yoshida 2016). It is therefore likely that C. ogatai may be distributed in Taiwan. Taiwanese Cangshanaltica diversity is clearly complicated and needs more data to be properly taxonomically resolved. As in the case of C. castanea, we therefore hesitate to describe any new species of Cangshanaltica from Taiwan.
