Popis: | In this work, the corrosion behavior of Mg-6Gd-4Y-0.6Zn-0.5Zr-0.3Ag alloy was investigated by using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). EIS results showed that the inductive impedance changed with immersion duration. After 1 h of immersion, only one inductive loop was found at low frequency (LF). After prolonged immersion (12 and 24 h), dual inductive loops were observed at LF. The corrosion morphology observation indicated that the change in inductive impedance was related to corrosion morphology. The sample immersed for 1 h exhibited a uniform corrosion morphology. Nonuniform corroded areas were observed on samples immersed for a prolonged duration. Severely and lightly corroded areas exhibited different corrosion morphologies. These morphological differences led to the considerable difference between the time constants of inductive impedance on severely and lightly corroded areas. Thus, dual inductive loops could be observed in the EIS of the samples immersed for a prolonged duration. |
