Popis: The isolation of two new flavones, wightin and echioidinin, from Andrographis wightiana Arn. ex. Nees is reported. By a combination of spectral, degradative and synthetic evidence, wightin is shown to be 5,3′-dihydroxy-7,8,2′-trimethoxyflavone. Wightin appears to be the first example of a naturally occurring flavone with an unique 2′,3′-oxygenation pattern instead of the normal 3′, 4′-pattern.
