Popis: Robots have slowly begun developing traits and behaviours which, at face value, appear human and have already begun to appear in important societal domains such as education, aged care, and as therapeutic adjuncts (Malle et al., 2016; Briggs et al., 2014; Cifuentes et al., 2020; Komatsu et al., 2021). As robots become increasingly human-like and engineers endeavour to endow them with artificial consciousness, it is important to assess at what point we afford them moral considerations and begin to consider potential deterrent behaviours to mitigate robot mistreatment. The aim of the present study is to assess how robotic protest in response to aversive stimuli will impact human perceptions of the robotic agents moral worth.
