Popis: Central venous cannulation is a common procedure for administration of chemotherapeutic agents and nutritional support in cancer patients. Mechanical complications most often occur and are closely related to anatomical relationship of great vessels. Use of surface anatomical landmarks along with ultrasound (USG) minimizes these complications. We describe a different safe and easy to replicate method of chemoport insertion using right-sided internal jugular vein (IJV) only in breast cancer patients. The role of real-time ultrasound as a safety enhancer is also reviewed. Chemoport insertion was done in 150 breast cancer patients treated at a tertiary cancer center by use of this modified technique. In our technique, there was a successful cannulation of vein with convenient placement of catheter in all the cases. It is particularly more useful for right-sided breast cancer patients. This technique is safe and easy to replicate method of chemoport placement by using right-sided internal jugular vein.
