General design features of the JINR 4 m isochronous cyclotron with a smoothly variable heavy ion energy

Popis: A 4 m isochronous cyclotron of JINR is being constructed for accelerating intense beams of heavy ions with A Z ratio of 3.5 to 25 proton units and a smoothly variable energy withing the range 400–625 Z 2 / A MeV. Basic physical parameters and ideas of this accelerator are presented.
