Popis:	Castor instabilities are a serious problem in several areas, particularly in motorcycle design. A clear understanding of the mechanisms of instability is necessary before the problem can be overcome. This paper describes a technique for assessing whether or not a particular mechanism can give rise to instabilities, and it is used to identify three new possible sources of wheel shimmy.
