Summary Thresholds of excitability and conduction velocities were measured, before and after intravenous injection of morphine (1–5 mg/kg), in A and C groups of fibres of the rabbit vagus nerve and in α and C groups of fibres of the cat saphenous nerve. Experiments were also performed on the α and δ group fibres of the saphenous nerve to find out whether there is an effect of morphine on the recovery of excitability. Morphine had no effect on any of these parameters. |
